Ellie Atkinson is a British female painter working in a contemporary abstract manner, inspired by the natural world, currently researching ecological and sustainable issues. Recent paintings explore concern for the earth's fragility, through painting with earth derived pigments, mirroring layers of earth and growth. Each brushstroke holds linkages to the natural world through painting, abstracting emotions, communicating them onto raw canvas. Atkinson offers a space of contemplation of the natural world's beauty and fragility in harmony. Working from memory, life, imagination and the subconscious, painting as meditation, grounding herself while reflecting on ecological issues and the human connection to earth. As well as being a painter Atkinson also uses her colour palette and compositional skills to create vibrant prints illustrating joy in the small moments in day to day life.
